January 6:
Iberville returns to Fort Maurepas, named "Biloxi" by the settlers, with more settlers and an appointment for Sauvolle as governor. Ten days later, Henry de Tonty arrives at Biloxi from upriver to help with the building of the settlements and fortifications.
With his arrival, the two French colonies on the North American continent are linked for the first time.
May 5: After sailing up the Mississippi River, Iberville establishes a peace treaty with the Natchez Indians. The Natchez cede land on which to build Fort Rosalie, though the actual fort would not be built until 1716. On May 28, Iberville returns to France.
