About OIP

The Office of International Programs (OIP) is housed in the Division of Student Affairs, and functions specifically to advance the internationalization strategy of the University of Mississippi, with a primary and central focus on the University's international community for which it serves as its main advocate.  We assist prospective international students with application, admissions and enrollment services; enrolled international students with arrival, adjustment and immigration advisory services and programs  which support their acculturation and integration; and international faculty and scholars with advisory services related to their employment and relocation to the USA. We assist faculty in the development and facilitation of institutional, research or program-specific international collaborations.

Director

 

Greet's career in international education spans 25 years. Prior to joining The University of Mississippi, Greet served as Assistant Graduate Dean for International Affairs at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte; Assistant Director of the Center for International Affairs and Programs at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh; Director of International Admissions and Student Services at Carroll University, and Director of Admissions Europe/Africa at Up With People.

Greet’s academic background includes a Master's in International Education from the University of Sydney, Australia, and undergraduate degrees in Pedagogy/English-Dutch and International Politics resp. from KHBO-Belgium and Carroll University in Wisconsin, USA where she attended as an F-1 international student.

Greet’s professional associations include AIEA, NAFSA, AIRC and MAIE. She chairs the University’s Standing Committee for International Student Programs, the Campus Internationalization Alignment Committee, and the International Student Advisory Board; she serves on the University’s Diversity Leadership Council, assisted the StudyMississippi initiative and served as a Mentor in the NAFSA Academy. Greet's International Higher Education interests include those pertaining to international student-mobility, development of sustainable partnerships, and facilitation of competence in 'crossing cultures'.

Greet has traveled extensively - having visited more than 40 countries in 6 continents to date - and is inspired by multi-cultural contact and good dialogue. She always enjoys a good cultural/historical novel and South/South-East Asian cuisine. She is passionate about exploring the world - both near and far.

Jean Robinson

Jean came to Oxford as an undergraduate student from New Orleans, LA. She is a graduate of The University of Mississippi and has worked in the Office of International Programs since 1991.

Jean is a member of the NAFSA: Association of International Educators Trainer Corps and has served as a trainer in the field of international student, faculty and staff advising at the regional and national levels. She is also a board member of the state consortium, StudyMississippi and active in the Mississippi Association of International Educators.

Much of Jean's current role at the university is related to visa advisement issues for students, faculty and staff. She serves as the PDSO and RO, prepares the I-20 and DS-2019 forms, manages the SEVIS database and works with J, H and permanent residency petitions.

In her spare time Jean likes to spend time with her husband and sons, bake, cook vegetarian food and tend the family's organic garden.
Kay Tyler

Kay grew up in the small town of Conway, Arkansas. She is a graduate of Hendrix College where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education.

Kay has worked in the Office of International Programs for the past twenty-eight years. Her job has been to learn about the many different educational systems of the world. Kay says that one of the most enjoyable parts of her position is meeting students who come to study at Ole Miss. She hopes to have the opportunity to meet with a student from every country of the world.

A few of her hobbies are reading, baking bread, playing bridge, and being with her five grandchildren.

Donna Chappell

Donna Chappell

Donna is a graduate of The University of Mississippi where she received her B.B.A degree in Management Information Systems, August of 1991. She began working at The University of Mississippi in 1991. Donna joined the staff of International Programs in August of 2005.

She enjoys international cuisine including Vietnamese Lemongrass chicken and spring rolls, Chinese Dim Sum, and a variety of dishes from India.

Donna and her husband, William, live in Oxford and are the proud parents of two wonderful daughters, Brooke Chappell and Heather Boutwell. They also have one grandchild, Lazarus Boutwell, who lives with his parents in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Regina George

International Student Advisor

 

Regina George graduated from of the University of Southern Mississippi with a B.A. in American Studies and a minor in German. Regina has studied abroad in Berlin, Germany and has traveled abroad extensively since then. She worked at the University of Southern Mississippi’s Office of International Students and Scholar Services for seven years where she served as the primary contact for international students while leading many international student services and programs. Regina also served as an Immigration Specialist at the International INTO-office at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Regina is the newest member of the OIP team. She serves as the primary point of contact for international students and the OIP's student programs and services, the Cultural Connections Program, and the various international student organizations on campus.
